“Far in the southern reaches of the world, there is a land mysterious and strange. A sprawling realm, bound in the west by the Cloud Tear mountains, and in the east by the Old Mothers mountains. A land of forbidding mountains towering with ice and snow, of glacial valleys, of frigid rivers, and of a most unusual kingdom and its people.

The first peculiarity of this place lies in its abundance of snow and ice. Even when the surrounding lands are at the height of summer, this realm remains locked into a peaceful but unending winter. The second is the shape known locally as the Snowflake Plateau. An unnatural refinement is found within this high  landscape, as though it were carved from the surrounding landscape by the hands of a master artisan. Finally, there is the great disc in the exact center of this land;  it rises high into the air, but still it teems with life. Many have tried to explain the oddities of this place, but accounts often conflict and are generally unreliable. Personally, I find the one that holds the most truth is what the locals say in hushed tones, an ancient warning the meaning of which most have long since forgotten. A warning that says that deep within the heart of this land there is a mighty sovereign who shapes this place, keeps the land cold, and makes the clouds of discord flee away. This mysterious figure is referred to as the Winter Liege.”
